Oxygen-methane rocket
Robin really wants to go to the moon. With a real bottle rocket! Of course, such a rocket also needs real rocket fuel. To do this, Robin uses a mixture of methane and oxygen.
When you put methane and oxygen in the right amounts in the bottle, they can burn together and release a lot of energy. We use that energy to fire our rocket.
Our small rocket works just like big space rockets. The US Space Shuttle flew on hydrogen and oxygen and the Russian Soyuz rockets use a type of paraffin. To fly to Mars, methane is becoming increasingly important. On Mars, there is underground water and CO2 in the air, so you can make methane to fly back.Methane is also cleaner than paraffin (it makes engines last longer) and it is cheaper and safer to use than hydrogen.
